# Introduction

> What the LeadVector API does, and how to make your first call.

The LeadVector API does what the LeadVector app does, from your own code:

* **Lookups:** find a business email or a mobile number, verify an email, or find the person behind an email.
* **Enrichment:** the full profile of a person or a company.
* **Campaigns:** create email campaigns, write their sequences, and add their leads.
* **Email accounts and inbox:** manage the mailboxes campaigns send from, and read and answer the replies.

## Your first call

Every request goes to `https://prod.leadvector.app`, under `/v1`, with your API key in the `x-api-key` header. This one checks that your key works:

```bash theme={null}
curl https://prod.leadvector.app/v1/auth/me \
  -H "x-api-key: YOUR_API_KEY"
```

```json theme={null}
{ "authenticated": true, "userId": 1234 }
```

Then find an email:

```bash theme={null}
curl https://prod.leadvector.app/v1/find-email \
  -H "x-api-key: YOUR_API_KEY" \
  -H "content-type: application/json" \
  -d '{ "fullName": "Jane Doe", "domain": "northwind.example" }'
```

## Next

* [Authentication](/api-reference/authentication.md): getting and using a key.
* [Credits & pricing](/api-reference/credits.md): what each lookup costs, and what is free.
* [Rate limits](/api-reference/rate-limits.md), [Errors](/api-reference/errors.md) and [Pagination](/api-reference/pagination.md).
* The **API Reference** tab lists every route, with a playground to try each one.
